AudioPhield

AudioPhield is a completely novel way to browse and listen to your music - and the music of your friends. This was my diploma thesis. Get it here to get a complete discussion of the project: diploma thesis. This work is the logical continuation of my project thesis, which you can download here: project thesis (a previous work).

Official page

The official homepage in the "Fluidum"-project: "Fluidum: AudioPhield"

Short description (from the thesis)

AudioPhield Screenshot

AudioPhield represents all songs in a private music library as small icons spread over the whole display. The placement of these icons follows automatically computed similarity-measurements, which are derived from MIR-algorithms and tagging-data from a social music-service called ``last.fm''. So, songs that are perceived as similar are placed close to each other. To obtain more detailed information about an area, users can create and move focus areas. These areas use distortions and magnifications similar to fisheye lenses. Because there is no icon occluded by this transformation, context-information is preserved. There are two ways to manipulate focus areas: ZoomFrames and SoapSpots (used in the screenshot). Songs are either played fully by double-tapping them or just partly for scan-play. The playback volume is controlled by a mobile widget.

Get it!

Well, you can't at the moment. The rights lie still with the university. Anyway, if you don't have your very own multi-touch tabletop it's not really useful for you anyways. However, I plan to open-source the program and finetune it to make it useful for ordinary PCs. Stay tuned!

See it!

Get here a video, which describes AudioPhield's scope and handling (albeit no technicals):
